Tomorrow begins Nationa Autism Awareness Month

Starting tomorrow I will be posting information on Autism. I will even share our journey into the world of Autism. I have 2 boys both with Autism, both to different degrees. These two beautiful boys are only 13 months apart in age, they have some common issues and some very different issues. When my second son was diagnosed with Autism, he was 2 yrs old, however we knew from about the age of 6 months that he too had to be on the spectrum. He began therapies when he was 15 months old. My oldest started at 23 months.

When the second diagnoses came, in 2005, I was expecting my third child. The developmental pediatrician advised me to pray for a girl, because the odds where against us in having a son without Autism. She told me that when you have one son on the spectrum, then another son on the spectrum, the chances for autism is so great, she said it was about 95% chance of a third son to be on the spectrum. Thanks be to God, my third was a girl!

I am pleased to say she is neuro-typical. But in the past 4 years I have come to learn a lot about Autism, the possible triggers, and the possibility to improve/recover a child with Autism.
