I have been shopping online since 2002, I have never experienced poor customer service as I did with Target.com last week. On December 1st I ordered 3 items, 2 items where the same. I elected to have all items ship together, if possible. These items I ordered are presents for Christmas, too. Well, first I get an email stating my order has been shipped. Then I get another email the same day stating my order is delayed and will be delivered between December 8Th to December 12Th. Okay that's plenty of time this will be here in time for Christmas. On Saturday December 6Th, I went out to get the mail and low and behold there is a package delivered by UPS, the night before, sitting on my porch. Cool, when I opened the package there where only two items in it. The invoice states this is only part of my order. The invoice shows 2 of one item and 1 of the other, I was stumped. I went online to check the order and track the shipping maybe there was suppose to be another box. The shipping tracking showed a package being delivered and another in transit. Okay, I waited and called Target.com's customer service to check on the missing item on December 12Th. The customer service agent told me indeed another package is in transit and I need to wait until December 18Th before anything can be done. Okay, I waited and on December 18Th I called back, I still do not have the missing item, the shipping tracking on Target.com stills shows a package is in transit. This time I am told my item is out of stock and UPS claims they delivered all packages to the home. I am home all day, I checked every day and evening to see if UPS had left a box on the porch, nothing. The kicker is the customer service agent did not even mentioned nor offer to refund me my money on the missing item. I had to call back and ask for a supervisor to help resolve the issue of my missing item. The supervisor was extremely helpful, she doubled check to see if a second package had been shipped, which there had not been one. She checked to see if any of my local Target stores had this item in stock, she had no luck on that. She offered to refund me my money on the missing item. She proceeded to tell me that item missing went out of stock not long after I placed the order, I suggested that maybe they alert the customer to the fact that the item I order was out of stock and they could not fulfil the order and let me decide if I wanted to cancel or continue with out one item, which would have saved a customer service agent from getting an earful from me!
I worked retail for many years, the customer was always right no matter what. What has happened to customer service in this county. You would think with the economy the way it is, retailers would move mountains to keep the sale.
I did manage to find this item, at Walmart.com for way less and guaranteed to arrive on or before December 24Th. I will post if it arrives on time!
