Tuesday Autism Update; Illinois Passes Autism Insurance Bill!
Hooray for the Autism community. Last week our state legislators finally rallied for the autism community and passed Senate Bill 934, amended to require insurance coverage maximum of $36,000 per year, will cover ABA, speech, OT, PT. The actual bill can be read at here. If you live in Illinois, print it out and have it handy when you request services through the doctor! I believe once signed it takes effect immediately, you can read about it here.
A huge Thank You to Pete DiCianni, Senator James DeLeo, Representative Skip Saviano, Representative Karen May, and many other sponsors in the General Assembly. Also to the governor and speaker Madigan for not burying this bill in committee. One victory here in Illinois for the Autism community.
